A Year of Blessings

Above - The Crisis Center's co-founder and Executive Director, Shirley Caylor
In spite of all the struggles, economic or otherwise, the Crisis Center succeeded in providing programming and services to well over 2,000 clients in 2009.
From teens without homes who came to our emergency shelter; to late-night calls for just someone to listen on our crisis hotline--our employees and volunteers responded to the needs of Northwest Indiana.
As we embark on another year, you can rest assured that the Crisis Center will be here to answer the calls for help. |

Kids Request Safe Place Sites Via Text

Youth in crisis can text the word SAFE and their current location to the number 69866 and they will receive an address of the nearest Safe Place site and contact number for the local youth shelter. Watch the Video here
In cities that don't have a Safe Place program, the youth will receive the name and number of the youth shelter or, if there is no local shelter, a national-hotline number. |
Former Volunteers Find Success in College

The Crisis Center's youth development program, Youth As Resources, lost a few great volunteers like this past fall, like Jenny (above) to college. Although we'll miss their participation, we congratulate them on moving forward to university life. |
